Who is Julián Álvarez's girlfriend?

Emilia Ferrero is the girlfriend of Atlético de Madrid's Julián Álvarez, and the mother of their son.

Her full name is María Emilia Ferrero. By her own account she was born in Córdoba, Argentina, and her family comes from Calchín, the town where Álvarez grew up. A qualified physical education teacher, she has played field hockey since the age of eight, including for Club Atlético Barrio Parque in Córdoba, and has recently taken up padel. She also works with brands on Instagram, where she has around 780,000 followers, and in 2025 she said she had joined the Argentine modelling agency Multitalent and was studying for an online master's in training and nutrition.

The pair first met as children at the Club Atlético Calchín pitch, through a shared group of friends. Their relationship was made official around 2022, as Álvarez was making his name at River Plate. That December she was in Qatar to support him at the World Cup, attending the semi-final against Croatia.

After living together in Buenos Aires and then Manchester, the couple have been based in Madrid since mid-2024. In June 2025 Álvarez confirmed at a press conference that he was going to be a father, and they now have one son. She attends his matches home and away, and supported him at the 2026 World Cup.
